[origin: EP2270238A1] The cooling bed useful as an upwardly opened basin (1) for slags, comprises a unit for producing a coolant flow in a longitudinal direction of the cooling bed, where the production unit comprises a gradient in the longitudinal direction of the cooling bed from a slag application point to an end of the cooling bed and the gradient is 3-2[deg] . The unit includes a unit (3) for impacting the slag with the coolant in the area of the slag application point, and a unit (5) for reguiding the coolant from the end of the cooling bed to the impacting unit. The reguiding unit comprises a cleaning unit (6). The cooling bed useful as an upwardly opened basin (1) for slags, comprises a unit for producing a coolant flow in a longitudinal direction of the cooling bed, where the production unit comprises a gradient in the longitudinal direction of the cooling bed from a slag application point to an end of the cooling bed and the gradient is 3-2[deg] . The unit includes a unit (3) for impacting the slag with the coolant in the area of the slag application point, and a unit (5) for reguiding the coolant from the end of the cooling bed to the impacting unit.
