Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2275207A1] The centrifuge (1) has a centrifuge drum (2) filled with predetermined amount of a crystal suspension as a filling material (9). A light source (11) and a light detector (12) determine absorbance of the filling material during operation of the centrifuge. A wash control device determines a measure for an instantaneous drying progress of the filling material based on the absorbance of the filling material. The wash control device starts washing of the filling material at a time period based on the instantaneous drying progress of the filling material. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an operation of a discontinuous centrifuge.
