[origin: EP2275277A1] The device has a cutting device (37) that separates a rear adhesive strip (5). A transfer device (36) fits the rear adhesive strip on a glued rear (1a) of an inner book (1) by a conveyor (38) that is moved to and fro. A measuring device (11) is attached to a conveying device (20) for determining an actual position (6) of the inner book. The conveying device has a separate drive (21) controllable by a control device (10) depending on the determined actual position of the book and a fixed reference position (7) in a rear adhesive- and head and tail station (30).
