[origin: WO2009138206A1] The invention relates to a slicer for food, comprising a rotatingly driven circular blade. The cutting edge of said circular blade is covered by a circular blade guard and a blade cover covers the side of the blade. The blade cover can be removed for cleaning the slicer. In order to facilitate an easy handling and easy cleaning of the device, the circular blade guard, on its side facing away from the blade cover, has a shackle with a stud for fastening the blade cover. The shackle has an opening which is oriented towards the circular blade guard and which facilitates easy cleaning.
