[origin: WO2009124787A1] The invention relates to a fuel injector (1, 1a, 1b), in particular a common rail injector, for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. Said fuel injector (1, 1a, 1b) comprises a high-pressure connection (5, 5a, 5b) for supplying high-pressure fuel to the fuel injector (1, 1a, 1b). According to the invention, a fuel cooling connection (8, 8a, 8b) via which a fuel cooling flow can be supplied to the fuel injector (1, 1a, 1b) is provided for actively cooling the fuel injector (1, 1a, 1b). The invention further relates to a fuel injection system (16).
