The data transmission apparatus (8) has an optical interface (6,7), a combined dosing apparatus (5) for dosing a detergent or dish detergent and a control unit (2) for controlling a household appliance, particularly for controlling or regulating a wash program, dosing, wash duration and washing parameters. A control panel is provided on the household appliance for the user to set control parameters. Vorgeschlagen wird eine Datenübertragungsvorrichtung (8, 17, 31; 45, 46) für Haushaltsmaschinen (1, 10, 20, 40), insbesondere Waschmaschinen, Geschirrspüler oder dergleichen, zum Senden und/oder Empfangen von Daten zwischen wenigstens zwei Funktionskomponenten (2, 5, 11, 16, 21, 22, 26, 42, 43) für die Haushaltsmaschine. Um eine verbesserte Datenübertragung zu ermöglichen, weist die Datenübertragungsvorrichtung eine optische Schnittstelle (6, 7, 17, 28, 29, 30, 31, 45) auf. Ferner wird Funktionskomponente für eine Haushaltsmaschine sowie eine Haushaltsmaschine vorgeschlagen.
