Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009124344A1] A system for deploying a wave energy converter (5) comprising a submersible structure (1) having a buoyancy chamber (3) sufficiently large that when filled with gas it enables the submersible structure (1) to float. In use, a wave energy converter (5) can be transported to a site on the submersible structure (1) and launched by releasing the gas from the buoyancy chamber (3). The system also includes a tethering means in the form of three tethers (6) operatively coupled to the submersible structure (1) for tethering the wave energy converter (5) to the submersible structure (1). The system also includes a docking station (10) provided in connection with the submersible structure (1) for mechanically coupling the wave energy converter (5) to the submersible structure (1) during transportation. A method of deploying a wave energy converter is also described.
