Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009149993A1] The invention relates to a multigroup transmission of a motor vehicle, having a front-mounted group (2), a transmission input shaft (7) that is provided on the drive side and can be connected via a starting element (16) to a drive motor (5), a main group (3), a main transmission shaft (30) on the driven side, and a powershift means (40) by which the transmission input shaft (7) can be connected to the main transmission shaft (30) for shifting into an intermediate gear when changing gears. In order to reduce costs and design effort and in order to achieve a compact design, the powershift means (40) and a shifting device (39) for shifting gear constants (ik1, ik2) of the front-mounted group (2) are designed as an integrated assembly (17). In a method for operating a multigroup transmission, the powershift means (40) supports a torque of the drive motor (5) at the main transmission shaft (30) in a slip mode when changing into an intermediate gear, with the starting element (16) at least partially closed, while the rotational speed of the drive motor (5) is being adjusted to a synchronous speed of a target gear, after which an original gear is disengaged in no-load condition, the target gear is engaged as the synchronous speed is reached, and finally the intermediate gear is reopened.
