[origin: WO2009149790A1] An apparatus (30) for closing a container (F) with a closure (K) is described, the apparatus having a screw closer (1) which comprises at least one screw head (11) for the screwing on of the closure (K). The screw head (11) revolves around an axis (D) over a controlled path (A) and is guided in a vertical screwing movement (B) relative to the container (F). The apparatus (30) contains respective supply apparatuses (31, 32) for the closures (K) and the containers (F). In order, in a structurally simple manner, to prevent the apparatus (30) from being obstructed or damaged by closures (K) entered into the screw head (11) in a misaligned manner, it is proposed to arrange a device (34) in the region of the screw closer (1) to determine closures (K) which have been supplied in a misaligned manner.
