Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2460095A] A building ventilator 102 comprises a frame 200 mounted on an opening 105 in a roof 101 and defining a duct 302 to convey air from an exterior 103 to an interior 104 of the building (100, fig 1), a plurality of vent blades 202 stacked one above another and mounted on the frame 200 such that the blades 202 define a louver (201, fig 2) that is exterior of the building, each blade 202 having a leading edge (416, fig 4C) external facing relative to the duct 302 and a trailing edge (415) that is internal facing of the duct 302, and each blade 202 between the leading edge (416) and trailing edge (415) is inclined relative to a horizontal plane at an angle theta in the range 30° to 40°. The distance in the vertical direction between adjacent blades 202 at their respective leading edge (416) is in the range 25mm to 35mm. The ventilator 102 may be passive or passive assisted with a fan (600, figs 12 - 14) mounted within the louver region (201) defined by the stack of blades 202 whereby the fan (600) is located between a lowermost blade 202 and an uppermost blade 202 in the vertical direction.
