Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009141244A1] The object of the application is a strand guide segment in the strand guide of a billet or bloom continuous casting system, comprising a segment frame (11), in which strand guide rollers (5) are disposed opposite of each other in pairs for the support on four sides and the guidance of a cast metal strand having a square or rectangular cross-section centrically to a casting center axis (4). The object of the invention is a strand guide segment that can be automatically adjusted within a broad range to different strand cross-sections, both with regard to the thickness extension (D) and with regard to the width extension (B) of a provided strand format. This is achieved by a  combination of roller holders (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d) carrying strand guide rollers (5), which can be positioned within a segment frame (11) independently of each other.
