[origin: WO2009150086A1] The invention relates, inter alia, to a method for generating a locating signal (Sx) which indicates the location (x(t)) of a vehicle (5), in particular that of a track-bound vehicle. According to the invention there is provision that a previously stored reference object (25) in the surroundings of the vehicle is identified and the reference object is subjected to an intersection image or mixed image-distance measurement (30, 30') and the locating signal is generated by evaluating the intersection image or mixed image-distance measurement.
