[origin: EP2292978A2] The hob, particularly gas hob, has a hob housing (4), which is covered by a cover plate (13). The hob housing is supported by the cover plate within an area of work plate section in a final assembly condition (I). A pre-assembly element is provided, on which the hob housing is supported in a pre-assembly condition, particularly independently of the cover plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a hob.
