[origin: WO2009149718A2] According to an embodiment of the invention, a connector for connecting a first cable to a second cable is disclosed. The connector includes a first end with a first cable insertion portion to receive the first cable and a second end with a second cable insertion portion to receive the second cable, at least one guideway adapted to bring a first electrical conductor of the first cable in close proximity with a first electrical conductor of the second cable and to bring a second electrical conductor of the first cable in close proximity with a second electrical conductor of the second cable, a first contact means and a second contact means arranged in the at least one guideway, wherein the first contact means provides electrical contact between the first electrical conductors of the first cable and the second cable and the second contact means provides electrical contact between the second electrical conductors of the first cable and the second cable. The contact means and the at least one guideway allow for visual determination of the position of the first electrical conductors and the second electrical conductors of the first cable and the second cable in the at least one guideway, accessing the first electrical conductors and second electrical conductors of the first cable and the second cable from outside the connector, and positioning the first electrical conductors of the first cable and the second cable in relation to the first contact means and positioning the second electrical conductors of the first cable and second cable in relation to the second contact means.
