[origin: WO2009156264A2] The present invention relates to a gear pump, for example a paint pump. The sealing of the drive shaft which is guided outward of the pump housing is carried out by a sealing means which is acted upon by a pressure medium. Said pressure medium is independent from the conveying medium and can be placed under pressure by means of a piston. An actuating means acting directly or by means of another hydraulic system onto the piston allows the adjustment of the pressure.
