[origin: EP2308439A1] The sick- or hospital bed has a base frame, an upper frame and a backrest (80) mounted opposite to the upper frame. The backrest is brought into an erect position by a movement around a pivot axis. The pivot axis projects below the upper frame and on the horizontal in the direction of foot of the bed lying as the backrest.
