[origin: WO2010015625A1] The present invention relates to a mutant microbial strain capable of producing an N-adipoylated ß-lactam compound when cultured in a culture medium comprising adipic acid characterized in that the strain has an improved incorporation yield of the adipic acid from the culture medium into the N-adipoylated ß-lactam compound compared to the non-mutant parent strain.
