[origin: EP2311617A2] The device has a cutting table (3) movable against a support frame (7) and along a longitudinal direction by a linear direct drive (8), where the drive has magnets (9) arranged on a side of the table. A cutting unit (4) is guided by a cutting frame (10) and is driven by a cutting drive. The cutting unit is moved to and fro along a cutting direction by the cutting drive. A part (16) of the cutting drive is arranged on a side of the cutting frame, and another part of the cutting drive is arranged on a side of the cutting unit, where one of the drives has a linear motor.
