[origin: EP2311646A1] The document has a window-like through-hole (4) partially closed by a film (3), where the through-hole is created in a paper substrate (1) during production of the substrate. The film is applied to a bulge (2) of a substrate surface, where the bulge surrounds the through-hole. The through-hole is in a round, oval or polygonal shape or is implemented in the form of slit, chain, sign, symbol or pattern. The film exhibits visual or machine-detectable optically active, optically variable, optical, metallic, metal-like appearing or reflective, electrically conductive and magnetic characteristics. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a valuable document with a window-like through-hole.
