The device (10) has blades (31) movable around a rotational axis (28). Each blade is formed from blade parts fastened to two parallel disks (34, 35) that are supported on a shaft, where the shaft is rotatable around the rotational axis. A drive is attached to the shaft, and surfaces of the blades are continuously changed during movement of the blades. One of the disks is arranged on the shaft in an axially displaceable manner for changing distance of the disks and for changing overlapping of the blade parts to the disks. An independent claim is also included for a training device.

Unterwasser-Trainingsgeräte verfügen über ein Schaufelrad (27), das von der trainierenden Person über Pedale (19) nach Art eines Fahrrads angetrieben wird. Das Schaufelrad (27) wird durch das Wasser hydrodynamisch abgebremst. Um die Bremskraft des Schaufelrads (27) im Wasser verändern zu können, schlägt die Erfindung es vor, das Schaufelrad (27) mit Schaufeln (31) zu versehen, deren Flächen veränderbar sind. Auf diese Weise kann von der trainierenden Person die zum Drehen des Schaufelrads (27) aufzuwendende Kraft verändert werden durch entsprechendes Vergrößern oder Verringern der Breite des Schaufelrads (27).
