Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2317008A1] The method involves monitoring tear or folding on a web (2) using a sensor (6) in front of a nip (3). The sensor transmits a signal to a separation device (8) via a control device (7), during occurrence of tear, where the separation device comprises a servo-motor (9). The separation device displaces one of guiding rollers (11) within 0.9 seconds under maintaining of tensile strength of a band (4), during separation process. The band is distanced from a counter roller (5), after a separation process. The band is tensioned by a tensioning element (10), during or directly after the process. An independent claim is also included for a device for opening the nip of a band calendar for treating a web.
