[origin: EP2317613A1] The apparatus has a wire gripper (50) comprises movable gripping jaw (4) and stationary gripping jaw (5) for cooperatively gripping the wire-end (1.1). A pressure unit actuates the wire gripper. The pressure unit acts with a linear movement on a movement converter which sets the motion of movable gripping jaw relative to stationary gripping jaw. A motor controls the rotating movement of movement converter. An independent claim is included for method for manipulating wire-end of wire.
