[origin: WO2009133459A1] A knife sharpener (10) comprises an oblong base body (11) that can be seized with one hand, having a sharpening device (25) for knives or the like that acts transversally to the longitudinal direction of the base body (11) inserted into the longitudinal side thereof. The base body (11) is designed as a clamp-shaped handle having means (24, 30) disposed at the ends for the stable support of the base body (11) on an uneven surface (35). With a knife sharpener (10) of said kind, improved functional safety is achieved in that a suction cup (30) is arranged at one end of the base body (11) as means for the stable support of the base body on an uneven surface (35).
