[origin: WO2010020659A1] Steam iron (1), comprising: A water reservoir (2) that can be connected hydraulically to a steam chamber (6) by way of a forward chamber (7), wherein the forward chamber comprises an inlet connection (72) which is connected to the water reservoir and an outlet connection (74) which is connected to the steam chamber, a valve (5) for opening and closing the inlet connection, and an activation element (3) for activating the valve (5) to enable the flow of water from the water reservoir (2) through the inlet connection (72) through the forward chamber (7) through the outlet connection (74) to the steam chamber (6), wherein the valve (5) comprises a stopper part (51) made of a piece of flexible material that can be inserted into the inlet connection (72) for the closing thereof, and a spring part (52) that presses the stopper part (51) against the inlet connection (72).
