[origin: WO2010001195A1] An on-board system and method for real time measurement of relative velocity and distance of separation between a subject vehicle and objects in its surroundings is disclosed. The present invention provides for a system comprising a plurality of sensors that serve to detect, map positions, measure the distances and relative velocities of objects around a subject vehicle and issue warnings to the driver about impending collisions and the path to be taken during different maneuvers.
