The method has a rivet (35) and an element, with that the rivet phase is completed with a rivet machine (12), which has a springy stamp (56) for production of a setting head of the rivets. The rivet machine is transferred along a stand (14) with a mechanical transmission (18) in a setting procedure from a quiescent position (46) to an initial position for a setting process. An independent claim is also included for a handling device.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur automatisierten Herstellung einer Nietverbindung mit einer Niete (35) und zumindest einem Bauelement (71, 72), bei dem der Nietvorgang mit einer Nietmaschine (12) durchgeführt wird, welche einen gefederten Stempel (56) zur Herstellung eines Setzkopfes (83) der Niete (35) aufweist und welche entlang eines Ständers (14) mit einem mechanischen Getriebe (18) in einem Zustellvorgang aus einer Ruheposition (46) in eine Startposition (81) für einen Setzvorgang übergeführt wird und anschließend während des Setzvorganges aus der Startposition (81) in eine Setzposition (85) zur Herstellung des Setzkopfes (63) verfahren wird, wobei die Nietmaschine (12) während des Zustellvorganges und des Setzvorganges mit einem mechanischen Antrieb (19) angesteuert wird.
