[origin: EP2323108A1] The device comprises an illumination device (1) which illuminates the flat objects (4) with the light, where a transport device transports the flat objects relative to the illumination device along a transport plane (6) in a transport direction (5). A sensor (3) is provided for the light of the illumination device. A reflector (2) is arranged in a beam path of the light between the illumination device and the sensor. The reflector reflects the light in the direction of the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for analyzing safety characteristics of a fiber structure on flat objects.
