Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2010022532A2] A sole (3) for an item of footwear comprises a sole body with a shell (4) and a core (5), wherein the core (5) is embedded in the shell (4), and wherein the core (5) is produced from a material which is stronger than the material of the shell (4). The core (5) of the sole body comprises a heel part (51) and a ball-of-the-foot part (52), wherein the heel part (51) and the ball-of-the-foot part (52) each have a base side (513) which is arranged in the direction of a base side (42) of the shell (4) and is curved convexly. The base side (513) of the heel part (51) of the core (5) is curved convexly to different extents, with varying radii in each case, along different axes (512') of the heel part (51) of the core (5). Such a sole (3) can cushion and support the main regions of the foot which are subjected to loading during walking and running, and therefore a rolling action adapted to the biomechanics of the foot is possible during walking and running. It is also the case that the sole (3) allows activation of the muscles of the wearer's apparatus of support and locomotion, and active walking and running are made possible. Incorrect loading of the foot with the associated effects on the apparatus of support and locomotion can be avoided or reduced in this way.
