[origin: WO2010028666A1] The invention relates to a device (42) for testing an ophthalmological microkeratome system (10), said device comprising a holding unit (44) for holding the microkeratome system in such a way that it can be operated, an image recording unit (52) arranged such that it records functionally relevant parts of the microkeratome system in images, while the system is under test operation, and an electronic evaluation unit (54) for evaluating and/or processing the image data of the image recording unit. Preferably, the evaluation unit can detect the roughness of a cutting blade of the microkeratome system, the correct position of the cutting blade, and possible pendulum movements, during operation, on the basis of the image data of the image recording unit (50). Furthermore, it can also measure the inner and outer diameters of a suction ring of the suction ring unit (12), on the basis of the image data, and compare them with corresponding values contained in a machine-readable characteristic (64) on the outer side of the suction ring unit (12).
