Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2163621A1] Washing nucleic acids immobilized on surfaces, comprises contacting the nucleic acids with a washing buffer, which contains less than 24 vol.% of 1-3C alcohol and at least one other solvent, which is alkanediols and 2-6C alkanetriols, monocarboxylic acid ester and 2-6C-dicarboxylic acid diester in the acid part and -1-4C in the alcohol part, (poly)ethylene glycol and its ether- and ester-derivatives, where poly indicates 2-200 repetitive ethylene glycol units: poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) and poly(4-styrene-sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) sodium salt solution. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method (Ia) for extracting nucleic acids from a solution, comprising adding a binding mediator to the nucleic acid containing solution, contacting the solution of the binding mediator and the nucleic acid containing solution with a surface under chaotropic and/or high-salt-condition, binding and/or adsorbing nucleic acids to a surface, washing the surface by the above method, and recovering nucleic acids, which are adsorbed on the surface, by elution; and (2) a reagent kit comprising a solution (A) comprising a washing buffer.
