[origin: WO2010034387A1] The invention relates to a sabot projectile (1) comprising a subcaliber penetrator (2) and a sabot (3) which has a drive element (4) acting upon the penetrator (2) on the rear side, a segmented and substantially cylindrical stabilizer cage (5) which is contiguous to the drive element (4) on the front end, and a segmented substantially disk-shaped metal stabilizer element (6) which extends radially inwards in the front portion of the stabilizer cage (5) and holds the penetrator (2). The disk-shaped stabilizer element (6) is designed in such a manner that it has a minor contour (11) which slightly arches in the direction of trajectory of the projectile (1), the material and the wall thickness of the stabilizer element (6) being chosen such that the arched portion of the stabilizer element (6) is pushed slightly back when the sabot projectile (1) is fired, thereby causing the stabilizer element (6) to rest against the inner wall of the barrel from which the projectile (1) is fired with its outer edge section (9), and/or against the outer surface of the penetrator (2) with its inner edge section (10) facing the penetrator (2).
