[origin: WO2010009723A1] The cartridge ammunition (1) comprises a projectile (11) and a cartridge shell (10) housing the same. The cartridges of the ammunition are magazined in a belt (31) and removed by means of a belt-extracting device and transferred to the breech of the rapid-fire weapon, such that the individual projectiles (11) can be fired from the rapid-fire weapon with high firing rate. In order to minimise the forces exerted in a shock on a base flange of the cartridge shell (10) by the belt removal, the base flange (32) of the cartridge shell (10) is provided with at least one recess (33) which increases the flexibility of the base flange, for example by reducing the thickness of the base flange. The recesses (33) can be in the form of channels (33a) or a series of blind drillings (33b) running parallel to the edge of the base flange.
