The protection device (20) comprises a fire extinguishing agent (18) inside a reservoir (17) which is arranged in a housing (11) of an electrical device (10). The fire extinguishing agent enters in an operative connection with the electrical or electronic components during a fire. The reservoir is made of a material that is destroyed during the fire while a passage is formed for the fire extinguishing agent.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Schutzeinrichtung (20) für ein elektrisches Gerät (10), wobei das elektrische Gerät (10) ein Gehäuse (11) für eine elektrische Schaltung mit elektrischen bzw. elektronischen Bauteilen aufweist, und wobei die Schutzeinrichtung (20) einen innerhalb des Gehäuses (11) angeordneten Vorratsbehälter (17) für ein Löschmittel (18) enthält, welches im Brandfall in Wirkverbindung mit den elektrischen bzw. elektronischen Bauteilen gelangt.
