Die Erfindung betrifft einen Lüfter (1) für eine Brennkraftmaschine, welcher ein von einem in einer Nabe (4) angeordneten Elektromotor (16) angetriebenes Lüfterrad (2) aufweist, welches mit einer Vielzahl von an der Nabe (4) angeordneten Lüfterblättern (3) ausgebildet ist, wobei die Nabe (4) mit einer Nabenstirnfläche (8) und einer Nabenmantelfläche (6) ausgebildet ist, wobei in der Nabenmantelfäche (6) eine Vielzahl von Aussparungen (9) vorgesehen ist, welche die Nabenmantelfläche (6) in eine Vielzahl von schaufelartigen Elementen (12) unterteilen.
