[origin: EP2335837A1] The device has a detection device comprising x-ray florescence-detectors (10), which are arranged transverse to a conveying band-transport direction above a conveying band. Another detection device is provided for detecting dimensions and/or mass of the heavy lumps. X-ray tubes (16) are arranged above the detectors to impact the heavy lumps with x-rays in a detection area. A computer-aided decision logic unit delivers a signal via a transport path of each heavy lumps based on result of information that is delivered by the former and the latter detection devices to control a separation device. An independent claim is also included for a method for separation of heavy lumps from conveying goods.
