[origin: EP2336465A2] The circuit arrangement has a locking mechanism that holds a motor vehicle door in a closed position or open position. An actuator is particularly equipped at an outside door handle (19) or an inside door handle (18). An electric drive, particularly an electric motor (11) is equipped for driving the locking mechanism. An additional electrical circuit element (13) is arranged within the current flowing circuit of the motor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling a locking unit of a motor vehicle door; and (2) a controller for a locking mechanism to hold a vehicle door in a closed position or open position.
