[origin: WO2010046497A1] The invention relates to an air filter (1) for air fed to an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle comprises a housing (2) and a tubular filter element (3) disposed therein. The flow through the filter element (3) is from outside to inside. To achieve greater freedom of design with regard to installation space and shape, the housing (2) comprises an inflow side (6) between two sides (4, 5), said inflow side having an elongated extension, and an unfiltered air opening (7) disposed on the inflow side (6), said opening extending substantially over the length of the housing (2).
