The device has a sampling element (3) e.g. roller, arranged at a load such that the sampling element is shifted during movement of the load along a preset path. The preset path is made when exceeding preset speed based on mass inertia to cause braking or holding of the load. A contour element (2) determines a movement path of the sampling element. The sampling element is mechanically coupled with a holding device or a brake system. The holding device has a holding profile (1) and a locking element (5) engaged into the holding profile. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting a load i.e. lift or lifting device.

Die Vorrichtung zum Abfangen einer Last, insbesondere zur Absicherung eines Aufzugs oder einer Hubeinrichtung, weist mindestens ein Abtastelement (3) auf. Das Abtastelement (3) ist so angeordnet, dass es beim Verfahren der Last in eine Bewegung entlang einer vorgegebenen Bahn versetzt wird und bei Überschreitung einer vorgegebenen Geschwindigkeit aufgrund seiner Massenträgheit die vorgegebene Bahn verlässt. Dadurch wird das Bremsen oder Abfangen der Last bewirkt.
