[origin: WO2010046424A1] The invention relates to a method for preparing printing plates at installation positions on one of a plurality of plate cylinders disposed in a printing machine, wherein a plurality of flat printing plates provided for a printing process to be carried out by the printing machine itself, said printing plates being bendable at least along the length thereof, are provided at the outlet of a plate line that is spatially separated from the printing machine and comprises at least one plate exposure device, wherein each of the printing plates is temporarily stored in a specific shelf, respectively, of a mobile collection container comprising a plurality of shelves, wherein the printing plates stored in the same mobile collection container are prepared for installation positions of the same plate cylinder, wherein each shelf of each of the mobile collection containers storing one of the printing plates is selected based on the intended installation position of the respective printing plate on the respective plate cylinder using data provided by a control unit of a production planning system prior to the storing of said printing plates, wherein printing plates stored in the mobile collection container and to be provided at the same plate cylinder are conveyed to the printing machine in a pre-sorted storage condition.
