[origin: EP2348272A2] The heat exchanger (45) has a positioning device (60) for changing a position of a heat exchanger surface (57) between a heat receiving position (I) and a heat discharging position (II). A free-flowing solid in the heat receiving position of the heat exchanger surface is moved in a direction of movement along the heat exchanger surface from one side (72) to another side (73) of the heat exchanger surface. Another free-flowing solid (F2) in the heat discharging position is moved along the heat exchanger surface from the latter side to the former side of the heat exchanger surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for transferring heat between two free-flowing solids.
