[origin: WO2010020394A1] The invention relates to a sliding ring (2) for a sliding ring seal, having at least one groove (1) being disposed on an upper side of the sliding ring (2), wherein the groove (1) comprises a feed region (3) leading toward the circumferential side of the sliding ring (2), wherein the feed region (3) of the groove (1) comprises a cross-sectional narrowing. In this manner the lift-off effect caused by a groove is further improved, and the friction of a sliding ring seal is substantially reduced. Furthermore, the lifespan of such seals is increased significantly.
