The label (1) has first, second, third and fourth side edges (1a-1d), where the first and third edges are joined with one another. The second and fourth edges are extended between the first and third edges, where the label is made from shrinkable material e.g. oriented polypropylene, oriented polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene or PVC. The second and fourth edges are extended along a given extension line (E) that differs from a geometrical connection line (G) between the first and third edges. An adhesive coating (8) is provided in an opening area (4) and/or an end area (5).

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Etikett (1), insbesondere für Behältnisse, mit wenigstens vier Seitenrändern (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d), wobei zwei erste Seitenränder (1a, 1c) der vier Seitenränder (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) aneinander fügbar sind, und sich die beiden zweiten Seitenränder jeweils zwischen den ersten Seitenrändern (1a, 1c) erstrecken. Erfindungsgemäß ist das Etikett aus einem schrumpffähigen Material hergestellt und wenigstens einer der beiden zweiten Seitenränder (1b, 1d) erstreckt sich entlang einer vorgegebenen Erstreckungslinie (E), wobei diese Erstreckungslinie (E) von einer kürzesten geometrischen Verbindungslinie (G) zwischen den beiden ersten Seitenrändern (1a, 1c) abweicht.
