[origin: EP1754823A2] Endless belt for a paper machine, in which both the top and bottom sides of the belt will come into contact with the paper web, comprises storage capacity for absorbing fluid acting on the bottom side. Independent claims are also included for: (1) paper machine comprising an endless belt that loops round a section of the periphery of a roll so that the bottom side contacts the roll, where the belt and/or roll has storage capacity for absorbinf fluid penetrating into the contact zone; (2) re-equipping a paper machine having a press section with a smooth roll forming press nips with two counter rolls and an endless belt that loops round the rolls and passes through the nips with a smooth bottom side in contact with the smooth roll, by replacing the sooth roll with a roll having a structured peripheral surface and/or replacing the belt with a belt having a structured bottom surface.
