[origin: EP2363296A2] The value document (1) has an elongated security element (2), where the security element has a machine-readable coding which is formed for center line of the value document relative to the longitudinal axis or transverse axis of the value document in a mirror-symmetric manner. The machine-readable coding has magnetic material. The security element is a strip or a patch. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a value document.
