[origin: WO2010051826A1] The invention relates to a device (10) for metering tobacco (11) in portions suitable for packaging, comprising a feeding element (12) for the tobacco (11) and a device (13) for forming and bringing out at least one tobacco portion suitable for packaging, characterized in that the device (13) comprises a wiping element (14) for wiping tobacco (11) into a portioning chamber (15), wherein the portioning chamber (15) is designed to be variable in volume for compressing the tobacco (11) and releasing the compressed tobacco portion and to be displaceable relative to the wiping element (14) for displacing from a filling position B into a dispensing position A and vice versa, and that an element (16) for bringing out the compressed tobacco portion is disposed in the area of the dispensing position A. The invention further relates to a corresponding method.
