Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2366968A2] The method involves determining and storing temperatures of air stream and coolant passing through an evaporator (16) by a temperature sensor (20) and an evaporator temperature sensor (18) at or directly after characteristic time point such as after completing a thawing process. Temperature difference of the temperatures of the air stream and the coolant is determined and stored, and the thawing process is triggered by a controller (21) when actual temperature difference and actual coolant temperature exceed a sum of the temperature difference and constants. An independent claim is also included for a device for thawing an evaporator comprising a determining unit and a memory unit for determining and storing temperatures of air stream and coolant passing through the evaporator at or directly after characteristic time point such as after completing a thawing process.
