[origin: WO2011086000A1] The invention relates to a method for producing a screw, wherein a blank (16) is rolled between two rolling dies (24). A roll profile is implemented in each rolling die (24), comprising a plurality of longitudinal recesses (34). The rolling die (24) comprises a first and a second end (30, 32), spaced apart in the rolling direction, wherein the blank (16) is displaced relative to the rolling die (24) from the first end (30) toward the second end (32) while rolling. The average pitch of the center lines of the recesses (34), defined as the quotient of the changes in positions of the center lines in the direction transverse or parallel to the rolling direction, is different in an area of the first end (30) of the rolling die (24) than the average pitch in an area of the second end (32) of the rolling die opposite the area of the first end-as seen in the rolling direction.
