Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2010069413A1] The invention relates to a belt for use as a vehicle safety belt, characterized by warp (1) and weft threads (3), wherien the warp threads (1) extend in the longitudinal axis of the belt (2) and the weft threads (3) extend transverely thereto, wherein the warp threads (1) are wound about the weft threads in the unencumbered state, and wherein at least in a longitudinal segment of the belt the weft threads (3) are designed to be extendable in length relative to the warp threads (1). In this manner, in case of an accident, thus, under a load applied in the longitudinal axis of the belt, the risk of injury to vehicle occupants is reduced in that the warp threads that are not extendable in length relative to the weft threads are aligned in straight lines under the applied load, due to the wound shape thereof about the weft threads (3), so that a displacement force acts on the weft threads (3), and said weft threads are stretched to a shape wound about the warp thread (1), so that the warp threads separate from one another and the belt width increases.
