[origin: EP2368826A1] The method involves placing and pressing a layer (7) of a packet having a printed product in a receptacle compartment (4) on an elevator (5). The thickness of the layer is determined and the elevator is moved downwards for receiving another layer of the packet or a layer of another packet corresponding to the previously determined thickness. An independent claim is also included for a device for forming packets from a layer of printed products.
