The present invention relates to methods for manufacturing a weldable coated metal wire comprising a metal core surrounded by a coating, wherein the coating comprises a zinc inner layer, a passivation layer and a sealing layer comprising silicon compounds. The present invention further relates to a weldable coated metal wire and structures comprising one or more weldable coated metal wires according to the present invention.
